ABOUT ISLE OF WIGHT ARTS

The main purpose of Isle of Wight Arts Open Studios is to bring art to people and to bring people to art.

We are a limited (not-for-profit) company run for Island artists. It is run by a group of people who truly care about creative arts on the Isle of Wight. We will organise, promote and advertise Open Studios for the general public and the artistic community. Entry to all of our events will be free of charge for visitors. The summer Open Studios period will for some time represent the main focus of our work. Where appropriate we will help publicise other arts events on the Island outside of the Open Studios period.

The aims of the company are:

  • To encourage public interest in the visual arts and crafts in the Isle of Wight.
  • To promote the importance of local artists to the economic, educational and social well being of the community.
  • To encourage wider public recognition and engagement with working artists.

Each member has their own web-page on the Isle of Wight Arts website, showing examples of their work, a profile and contact information. This website is a central resource designed to embrace arts and crafts in all forms, from traditional to contemporary and experimental. Each year we produce a yearbook where artists who participate in the July Open Studios event have an enhanced listing. Artists can also feature in the yearbook with a listing even if they're not taking part in the event and we welcome advertisers as well.

Applications for Open Studios 2020 and to feature in the yearbook will open on 1st December 2020  To find out more click here.

Together these provide a platform for the work of artists and crafts people based on the Isle of Wight, thus encouraging public interest and providing wider public recognition and engagement with working artists.

If you have any news or events you would like us to publish on the website please get in touch.
