I have always been interested in pottery; wherever I have lived I have always looked to join a pottery class. I did a 2 year ceramics course at the Isle of Wight College which covered all aspects of making and glazing pots.
Although I have my own wheel and kiln, I love going to the all-day workshop at the Jubilee Stores, bouncing ideas off other like-minded people. I make large stoneware coiled pots, each one different, and my only limit is the size of the kiln.
I also love Raku pottery, taking pots out of the kiln when red-hot and putting them into sawdust. They come out black and after a scrub and, if you are lucky, amazing colours of copper and turquoise appear.
My studio is in my garden and all my work is displayed outside for the Open Studios 4 days.
