Melanie works in a range of mediums to explore colour, texture and narrative forms. Printing on textiles and paper led her to develop new work in recent years, Her practice is focuses on working in traditional mediums, within a contemporary context, using natural dyes and pigments, gesso and gilding. 





Melanie's early training, as a painter, was in France.  She subsequently developed a broad practice and exhibits regularly. Her work has featured in both local and national exhibitions, including the House of Commons and the Mall Gallery.

Melanie is based in the Jubilee Stores, the Quay Arts studio and workshop complex. She is an experienced Arts Educator and has worked with a range of Community projects,  Melanie  is currently studying at West Dean College for the Diploma in Art and Contemporary Craft.

In 2009, she co-founded the NoManisanIsland CIC. As Director and Project Manager, Melanie worked with Arts, Education and Community organisations, to deliver free events and exhibitions. NoManisanIsland's work was awarded a London2012 Inspire Mark, from 2009 to 2012. The Company's contribution is commemorated on the Inspire Mark memorial plaque, in the Olympic Park site.

Melanie works with the Drawing Ahead art group, together with her colleague Ian Whitmore. The group meets weekly during Term-times, in the quiet and supportive studio environment of the Jubilee Stores. Drawing Ahead welcomes people living with mental health difficulties who are interested in developing their creative work.
